I may be late to the party, but I have recently started listening to podcasts. Until recently, my only real experience with podcasts was with the Serial podcast, which I was totally obsessed with. Anyone else?! I have a decent commute to school (I’m a teacher), and I am now totally hooked on listening to podcasts to and from work. Traffic can sometimes (maybe more like all the time) really frustrate me, but feeling like I’m learning something rather than wasting time has really lifted my spirits! I’m going to share my current favorite podcasts, but I’d really love to know what you all are listening to! Share your favorites in the comments – I can’t wait to discover new thinkers, organizers, entrepreneurs, activists, and encouragers!
Jessica is the founder of Noonday Collection, a fair trade jewelry company based in Austin, Texas. I used to be a Noonday Ambassador, so I borrowed a lot of Jessica’s courage when I ventured out to start Zuri. In fact, her podcast is all about courage, which she defines as “going scared.” She has awesome guests on air with her that will leave you encouraged, motivated, and supported from afar. We all need courage to do whatever it is God has called us to do, and if you could use an extra dose, I highly recommend listening to Jessica’s podcast!
Molly Stillman is a blogger with a podcast that features businesses and people who are using their work to impact the world positively. She has had lots of people in the fair trade/ ethical fashion world on her show, and recently she featured Zuri! You can click here to listen to our conversation. 🙂 I have loved learning about so many amazing ideas people have – no matter how big or small they might be – we can all make a difference! Molly has a heart of gold and she is as funny as she is sweet, so you’re in for a laughs for sure!
I am addicted to this one. Each story gets better and better and each time I am left inspired and motivated and in awe of how God weaves people’s stories together. Each show, a different entrepreneur/ business woman/man is interviewed. We basically hear about their story and how they built the company they are known for. Seems so simple, yet I find myself literally looking forward to driving so I can listen to more of these stories. Some of my favorites include Kate Spade, Alexa von Tobel (LearnVest), Arthur Blank (Home Depot), and Dave Gilboa & Neil Blumenthal (Warby Parker) Also – Guy Raz is a fantastic host and a master questioner!
Have you heard of the Enneagram? If you haven’t, stop right where you are and google it…and then read this book. It has been a long while since I have read a book that has had more lasting impact on me than this one has. The Ennegram is not just another personality test. It really helps you identify the pitfalls of your personality so you can live out your true self. It’s also very useful in better understanding our loved ones (or our not so loved ones too!). Typology is Ian’s way of diving deeper into each number on the Enneagram by interviewing different people. It has been very insightful in helping me understand the number I most relate to and other numbers as well.
